I’m proud to announce that the new and improved version of my website is now up.
The purpose of this site remains the same; to share my work and keep me connected to the filmmaking community. The look and functionality of it, however, has changed quite a bit.
The handsome, yet clean and simple, design of my website is based on the Wordpress theme Press Box, and it comes courtesy of The Creative Synthesis Collaborative. After many years tinkering with html and website building software, I finally decided to migrate into the amazing world of Wordpress. I was introduced to it by my friend Daniel Rodriguez, who I have christened “Mr. Web,” simply because he is my website building guru. Wordpress is an amazing platform initially meant to be used for blogs, but now widely used for sites that vary greatly in their purpose. It is incredibly flexible, easy to use, highly editable, and for the most part, free. If you are thinking of building a website, Wordpress is the way to go!
The other major change in alejandroheiber.com is the use of Flash for my videos, the core of the website. For a long time I have been hesitant to switch from Quicktime movies to Flash mainly for practical reasons. But the Wordpress platform makes it so easy to embed Flash video, that I could no longer resist. The result is videos of much better quality and lighter in size, so loading times are reduced and the viewing experienced enhanced.
Finally, there are many aspects of my site that resemble a blog. For example, I can now publish news with ease, and visitors can leave comments not only after posts, but after my videos. This last feature is particularly important to me because I thrive on feedback about my work.
alejandroheiber.com is a work in progress. Come back soon to check up new stuff, or simply sign up to the RSS feed and be notified when new material goes up. Thanks for stopping by, hope to see you again soon.
